An independent photography gallery in Motomachi with rotating exhibitions in a small, community-run upstairs space.
If you’re into photography and you want a small space where you can feel close to the work (and often the photographers), Birdie Photo Gallery is a lovely Motomachi find. It’s an independent photo gallery that regularly hosts exhibitions, often by Kansai-based photographers. It’s the kind of place where you can pop in casually and discover something memorable.
Birdie is tucked away on the 4th floor of a building just off Motomachi’s arcade streets, which makes it feel like a little secret spot above the city. It’s only a couple minutes from Motomachi station, but the “hidden upstairs gallery” vibe is part of the charm, especially if you like art spaces that feel community-run.
Birdie Photo Gallery is on the 4th floor of Sennarido Building in Motomachi. It’s about a 2-minute walk from JR Motomachi Station (East Exit) and Hanshin Motomachi Station (East Exit), and about a 2-minute walk from Kyukyoryuchi-Daimarumae Station (Subway Kaigan Line, Exit 2). For navigation, plug “Birdie Photo Gallery” or “千成堂ビル” into your maps app.
